The deadlift is one of the most popular exercises in training and powerlifting. Most importantly, the hip hinge is a fundamental movement for long-term low back health. Strength of the low back is an important element for health and performance and the deadlift strengthens the lower back better than any other exercise. A poorly executed deadlift, however, is potentially dangerous for back health and lumbopelvic function. As such, mastering the deadlift is important both for prevention and performance.
